A story of handmade art, culture and creativity

Hi and welcome! I’m so glad you’ve found your way here. This blog and opening this little online shop, is a journey I’ve been on for quite some time and I'm finally ready to share.

It began when my family and I moved into our forever home. I wanted our space to feel like “us” - unique, meaningful and full of character. I’ve always been drawn to the dark romance and drama of Victorian gothic design, but another deep part of who I am comes from my Pakistani heritage, with its vibrant patterns, textures and traditions. At first, it seemed impossible to bring these two very different aesthetics together, but as I experimented, layered ideas and created pieces for our home, I discovered that the contrast could become harmonious.

Our home isn’t huge, so it needed to flow but it also needed soul. Piece by piece, I crafted items that reflected both my love of dark, moody Victorian gothic and the rich tones and intricate artistry of my Pakistani culture. The result was a space that feels alive with both histories, woven into something new.

Family and friends often asked me if I’d ever sell my creations. At first, it was just a personal project. But over time, I realised that making art and crafting wasn’t just about curating my home, it was also about self-care. My work in international women’s rights is intense and all-consuming. Creativity gives me the balance I need. It allows me to switch off and breathe.

I’m lucky to share this journey with my husband, who brings his own creativity into the mix. While I dream up ideas, he adds an engineering twist by laser cutting wood, 3D printing elements, or helping me bring a concept to life. Together, we’ve built not just pieces for our home, but a way of working that combines imagination and craft in surprising ways.

I love mixed media, layering and experimenting with new techniques. (Confession: I’m a bit obsessed with art supplies and stationery – more on that in future blogs!) This blog will be a space where I share not only my inspirations and process but also tutorials, furniture transformations from my own home and tips for anyone who wants to try their hand at making their own creations.

Thank you for being here at the very start of this new chapter. I hope my work inspires you to see how art and design, no matter how different, can come together to tell your own unique story.

Until next time,
Anber
